Southern Cross Community Housing offers two types of housing assistance:

Community Housing and Affordable Housing

Community housing, along with public housing and Aboriginal housing, is a type of “social” housing.  Community housing offers secure, affordable, long-term rental housing for people on low to moderate incomes.

Affordable housing is another type of  housing developed to assist people on low to moderate incomes that may be slightly higher than those eligible for social housing, but still requiring affordable and secure housing.

Applying for Community Housing:

You can collect an application form from either Housing NSW office or one of our offices.  You will need to complete the form and return it to us with the supporting documents.

If you have difficulties with the forms, you can make an appointment to see our Housing Officers either at the Nowra, Ulladulla, Eurobodalla, or the Monaro office.  They will help you fill out an application form.

If you cannot come into our office due to disability or distance, then we can send you application form in the mail, and follow up with a telephone call with you when convenient.

If you are already registered with Housing NSW, you are already on the Common Waiting list, which we now use to allocate our vacant properties.

You will need to keep in touch with us once you have applied, especially if your circumstances change.

Applying for Affordable Housing:

Calls for applications are generally made when new housing becomes available, however, you can also apply for Affordable Housing should a vacancy occur.

Applications for Affordable Housing are available from our offices.

How are allocations to properties made:

  • Vacant accommodation is allocated on the basis of need.
  • Need is assessed on income, health, length on time on the waiting list, current rent paid, current housing conditions, and any other details that may affect the applicants quality of life.
  • SCCH aims to ensure that as far as possible, people are allocated to a property that is most suited to their needs.
  • Accommodation is allocated according to size of the household
