We know that starting work can sometimes mean that you need to spend more dollars on new clothes and travel costs. To help makes the transition more manageable, Southern Cross Housing’s Start Work Bonus will enable you to effectively freeze your increased rent payments for 26 weeks.

Conditions of the subsidy include the person starting work must be an approved household occupant aged 18 or over. The new job starter must also be living in a Social Housing property that is owned or managed  by Southern Cross Housing and have received a Government pension, benefit or allowance as the primary source of income for the last 12 months (minimum).

Applications for funding must be received on the approved form which is available here and may be submitted at any time. The Start Work Bonus Fact Sheet provides more information.

For more information about the Start Work Bonus Program please contact the Southern Cross Housing, Communities Assist Team on 1300 757 885 or email communities@scch.org.au.

*The subsidy is for the increased rent amount where tenants have been paying a subsidised rent as a result of low income or statutory earnings.
