Southern Cross Housing to manage an additional 960 social housing properties across the Shoalhaven.

On 17 October 2017, Minister for Social Housing, Pru Goward announced Southern Cross Housing as the successful social housing manager across the whole of Shoalhaven’s local government area

Southern Cross Housing has been the Shoalhaven’s Community Housing Provider for over 30 years, and following the transfer, Southern Cross Housing will manage over 1800 social housing tenancies across the Shoalhaven.

Southern Cross Community Housing welcomes the announcement and congratulates the NSW State Government on realising the benefits of transferring management of social housing to Community Housing Providers.

“We understand that the competitive tender process ensured value for money to government as well as demonstrating customer service and outcome delivery. Southern Cross Housing has deep roots in the Shoalhaven and embraces the challenge to demonstrate that we will continue to provide second to none customer service, whilst promoting social inclusion, enabling people to pursue economic opportunities, and community cohesion” says Alex Pontello, CEO of Southern Cross Housing.

The transfer of properties and tenancies will occur in October 2018 following a rigorous planning process between the FACS and Southern Cross Housing.

The transfer will create new job opportunities in the Shoalhaven over the 2 years.

“As part of the transfer we have already commenced discussions with FACS to ensure their current staff impacted by these changes are given the opportunity to express their interest in working with us, as well as creating additional roles.” Alex Pontello, CEO Southern Cross Housing.

Southern Cross Community Housing is accredited as a Tier 1 provider under the National Regulatory System for Community Housing. We manage Social Housing, and an Affordable Housing Program, funded by the New South Wales Government.

Southern Cross Housing is dedicated to making our communities a safe and secure place for our families to live and for children to grow and thrive.
